History of HMR Heritage
A Story of Tradition, Innovation & Conscientious Luxury
In the ancient city of Varanasi, where art is not made - but inherited….our story began.
In 1930, Haji Matiur Rahman, our great-grandfather, started what would become a living legacy of Banarasi craftsmanship. He was a master of silk, known for creating sarees that once graced the courts of Ramnagar’s Maharaja. His hands knew silk like an alchemist knows his elements.
Over the period of Nine decades, our family carried that craft forward — one generation after another — refining, reimagining, and preserving what he began. From the satin silks that once ruled South India to the intricate weaves we create today, every piece we make carries the weight of that history and the touch of that devotion.
For years, our work quietly traveled through trusted retailers and loyal patrons, reaching women who understood the worth of something handmade. But as times changed and the world went digital, we embraced it. We stepped into a new chapter where our legacy took a new name: HMR Heritage.
Now, as the fourth generation, we bring our creativity directly to the world.
Still the same hands. Still the same looms. Only the stage is larger.
At HMR Heritage, we don’t chase trends — we nurture traditions. Every saree, every fabric we create is woven with patience, finished with purpose, and made for women who choose stories, creativity and craftsmanship.
We are HMR.
